020109 was the birth of 1E1 2009. At the beginning of the year, I resented myself, I hated the class, I hated everything around me. I blamed myself for not going into a better school. I wanted time to turn back so that I could redo my PSLE to get into CHIJ/CGS.
I wanted time to fly, so that in a blink of an eye, I could graduate. Who knew, that after 10 months in Greenview Secondary School, my perspective on life would have changed.
After a year of ups & downs, I believed I came into this school because God wanted me to have a taste of how its like in a neighbourhood mixed school since I spent 6years in a Government-run private girls' school. & I'm sure He wanted me to learn it accept people from every walk of life, and not look down on people.
It has been a year of joy, sadness, laughter, tears, hurt, pain, surprises, betrayal and backstabbing at every turn. And this year, I've learnt more than what's been taught in the classroom. And those life lessons can't be learnt anywhere, but in life.
I've learnt to move towards my hopes and dreams. I've learnt to try to achieve every goal I've made.
It has brought into my life, alot of people that I'd never want to forget. Thank you all for changing my life's perspective.
Having given a chance to join the 12th Student Council, I've learnt how to work under pressure circumstances, within time constraints, persevere and be resilient through all the tough times, and most of all, I've learnt to be a better person and a better leader. Even though next year, I might not be in the Student Council, I'm still thankful that I was given a chance to realise my potential.
Being a Disciplinary Rep in my class for 6 months, & being the longest serving DR in 1E1, I've learnt that, although the workload might be extremely tedious, just keep going. Doesn't matter how much effort you need to put in, as long you persevere and continue, you're bound to reach your destination.
I was an outsider to the class, everyone thought I had the traits of a private school bred girl: snobby, bitchy, arrogant etc. 6 Months later, the class's perspective changed, although we don't get along so well, but it wasn't as bad as compared in the beginning of the year.
301009 will not be the demise of 1E1 2009, although all of us are going to promote to Secondary 2E1, the spirit of 1E1 2009 will never be forgotten.
